Poem: Expression

15 February 2010

This was a quick write in English class. I was bored and we were talking. It came to me so I wrote. I’ve changed it a bit. I’ll post the original piece after the revised piece. I hope you enjoy. I would love if you reviewed the piece and sent the review (What you liked didn’t like, thought could have been better, etc.) to my email, neverendingwords@gmail.com, or just leave a reply here.

Expression is the biggest key

In our world’s large destiny

Smaller ones we come across

So that we are never at a loss

Every word is one step closer

To the moment that our pain is over

Heart and soul will speak their truths

Mind and logic obstruct their views

What you keep can help or harm

Might shield you from the charm

Of insults and denunciations

Because of your associations

What you keep can help or harm

Can shield you from those slews

Of insults and denunciations

Because of your associations

I love the poem! At the beginning of the poem there is this one part – “In our worlds large destiny” – “worlds” should be “world’s” since you are using it in an ownership type of way. Even if you are not using punctuation for this poem, apostriphes are still necessary. Yes, I have to be miss perfectionista. ;D

Anyways, onto the good! The rhymes flow smoothly and it’s a unique way to look at the world. I love the lenth of the overall poem, just long enough, but not too long! WRITE ON!
